The Breeds We Have and Recommend

We have ten different breeds. Olive and Edna are both Speckled Sussex. Princess Lay-a and Louis are Golden-laced Wyandottes. Opal is a New Hampshire Red. Debbie, Gabby, Trudy, Fern, Apricot, and Honey are all Golden Buffs (aka ISA Browns). Gertie, Gale, and Henrietta are Plymouth Rocks. Iris and Lilac are Lavender Orpingtons. Sunny, Goldy, Izzy, and Milly are Buff Orpingtons. Nancy and Susan are Buckeyes. Nora and Rita are both Jersey Giants, and Nelly is an Australorp.

The two breeds I would highly recommend are the Golden Buff and Buff Orpington. Golden Buffs are overall good hens. They lay amazing eggs, and are super friendly. Buff Orpingtons are the Golden Retriever of the chicken world. They are friendly, and cute! Sunny, my favorite hen, is a Buff Orpington. She is by far the cutest and most fluffy hen we have!

The rest of the breeds are also great. The Lavender Orpingtons, Golden-laced Wyandottes, and Austrolorps are beautiful, yet skittish. Olive and Edna are cuddly, but look more like pheasants than chickens. Golden Buffs and Buff Orpingtons are definitely the friendliest!
